Architect Renato Maurizio
Stylish Mountain Design
This summer saw the metamorphosis of Chesetta St Moritz – with two parts of the ski chalet being joined via a fantastic glass walkway created by the renowned architect Renato Maurizio.
The double height annexe living area is the ultimate place to relax in the Etro sofas on the two levels. Space, light and great views sum up this transformation.
Located minutes from St Moritz in Silvaplana, Chesetta is a 5000ft² modern property with accommodation for 12 adults in 6 super king-sized bedrooms and a children’s bunk room. Every comfort has been included with underfloor heating, a Sonos music system, home cinema/playroom, steam room, sauna and gym.
Great attention to detail is evident throughout with ETRO fabrics, local antiques mixed with a collection of contemporary art against a backdrop of rich old wood and granite.
A great retreat for an extended family or group of friends. Chesetta St Moritz is rented fully staffed with chalet manager, acclaimed chef, chalet host and housekeeper.
Featured in our Spring Summer 2014 Villa Rental Collection
Born from the imagination and talent of the famous Belgian Architect Bruno Erpicum and located on the west coast of Ibiza, this magnificent sunset facing villa for rental offers some of the best views of the city and the bay.
In the heart of a clearing in a 4 hectare pine forest surrounded by orange and 300 year old olive trees sits a long white building. It's like an open theatre where you are the owners’ guests who can share in their love for modern art and design.
The architecture of this villa leaves you in awe at its innovation and attention to detail. It really confirms the talent of Belgian architect Bruno Erpicum. The highlight of its design is the volume of glass built underneath the white structure to protect it from the wind and sun. The floor-to-ceiling windows throughout allow you to enjoy the views and landscape from each room.
White dominates the building with abundant use of Paloma Blanca stone from Spain used in the flooring as well as the dining table. From the west front, facing the sunset, the panoramic view is at the height of the project.
On each side, an entrance provides access to the upper floor of the villa, which houses the landings, bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. Further on, the roofing rises halfway to crown the living areas, while the floor follows the line of the slope downwards to a vertical wall, which frames a view of three scattered outer islands. To the left, the same roof extends out to the monolith where the kitchen adjoins the covered terrace. The slanting windows look out over the sunset, which casts shadows onto the different walls, including those of the patio.
In the centre, the patio releases spaces to integrate an outdoor lounge. Protected from wind and sun, this space is used all year round. The central patio’s proportions play tricks on the eyes by opening out onto an orange orchard. A pond extends around the edge of the central patio, reflecting the sky, and an orange tree adorns the stone terrace. The light and breeze intermingle. The garden and vegetation are in direct contact with the living areas.
In the summer, the rays of sunshine give way to shade; later, in the autumn, the wind is kept at bay so that you can make the most of the mild climate. The front façade is like a blank page sitting against the backdrop of the surrounding countryside. The scent of the orange trees perfumes the front path. The roofing soars upwards, while the covered terrace enjoys the evening sunlight. The living room floor flows with the contours; the stairs are a dry stone construction. The stone patio is surrounded by a pond that reflects the morning sunlight. The sea view provides the backdrop for the swimming pool; its perfect proportions complete the composition of the design. The lower garden hugs the original walls.
There are seven bedrooms (4 are a mixture of wood and white offering a feeling of serenity). Each room has a terrace; on the first floor, these are finished with Parador flooring. These suites and rooms have complete privacy and private bathrooms. On the terraces tanning can be intense.
The atmosphere is pure and minimalist. The sunlight illuminates the stone staircase. The study offers views from a horizontal bay window above the lower lounge. The evening sun penetrates into the heart of the house. The double-height lower lounge has an open fire that has been carved out of dry stone.
The dining room enjoys both the morning and evening sunlight; the kitchen is discreetly tucked away behind a partition wall. The central island in the kitchen is made of “Paloma Blanca” stone.
The open plan design for the bedrooms and their respective bathrooms is highly effective. The furniture and decorative elements are there to dynamise volumes where white dominates. Artwork by French artist Francoise Nielly features strikingly in the living room.
